Police Blotter: October 16-19, 2008

Town of Cornwall Police Department

Thursday, October 16
7:21 a.m.  Police issue a ticket for driving 75 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 32 to a 25-year-old female from New Windsor.

9:26 a.m.  Police take a report of a subject receiving harassing text messages.

11:08 a.m.  Police charge a 39-year-old female from New Windsor with driving an uninsured vehicle with a suspended registration.

3:30 p.m.  Police take a report from a subject who had received what she thought to be a harassing email.

4:59 p.m.  Police respond to the middle school for a report of illegally parked car and find approximately two dozen cars illegally parked.  Officer finds the owners who then move their vehicles.

5:56 p.m.  Police return to the middle school and issue a parking ticket to one vehicle parked illegally.

6:48 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a suspicious person in the area of Brookhollow road and speak with a subject who is sitting in his car.  Subject says he recently moved to area and his cat recently escaped.  He says for the past few nights he has been coming to the area in an attempt to catch his cat.  Officer observes a cat carrier and cat food in the car.

6:48 p.m. Police respond to a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Route 9W.

6:51 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident at the middle school that occurred when one vehicle backed into another.


Friday, October 17
4:24 p.m.  Police charge 25-year-old Mathew Romas, of Syosset, with two felony charges of forgery of a medical prescription and criminal impersonation, as well as with a misdemeanor charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance after he attempted to fill a false prescription at the CVS pharmacy.

9:38 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a group of juveniles on Main Street turning over garbage cans and locate a group at CVS pharmacy and advise them to move on.

10:17 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Route 9W to a 45-year-old female from Kingston.

11:16 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Route 32 to a 48-year-old male from Kinnelon.


Saturday, October 18
2:25 a.m.  Police issue a ticket for driving 66 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 32 to a 55-year-old male from Wappinger Falls.

9:13 a.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Route 32 to an 18-year-old male from New Windsor.

9:47 a.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Laurel Avenue to a 27-year-old male from Newburgh.

10:42 a.m.  Police respond to a traffic accident at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Algernon Street.

11:09 a.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Jackson Avenue that occurred when the driver parked her car to take a photo and the car began to roll.  While attempting to stop the car, the driver tripped and hurt her ankle and the car came to a stop in a shallow ravine.

1:10 p.m.  Police issue three tickets to a 41-year-old female from New Windsor, including one for driving with a suspended license.

7:35 p.m.  Police respond to a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Route 9W.

10:32 p.m.  Police issue two traffic tickets on Route 32 to a 21-year-old male from Cornwall-on-Hudson.


Sunday, October 19
12:41 a.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Route 32 to a 28-year-old male from Brooklyn.

1:23 a.m.  Police charge 28-year-old David Anaya, of New Windsor, with criminal possession of a controlled substance after he is stopped for a traffic violation and police find five percocet pills in his possession.  He is also charged with driving with a suspended license and his vehicle is impounded.

1:07 p.m.  Police issue a ticket for an expired inspection sticker to a vehicle parked at the Salisbury Mills train station.

1:16 p.m.  Police assist COVAC with the rescue of a mail with compound fracture of his right ankle on a trail on Storm King Mountain.

2:16 p.m.  Police issue a ticket for driving 70 mph in a 40 mph zone on Route 9W to a 42-year-old male from Beacon.

2:54 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Route 9W to a 37-year-old female from New Windsor.

3:10 p.m.  Police issue a ticket for speeding on Route 9W to a 20-year-old female from New Windsor.

5:43 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Route 94.
