General News: Private Music Teacher Charged
October 23, 2008
A private music teacher in Cornwall has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor, police say.
Michael Melucci, 56, the owner/operator of The Canterbury School of Music, was arrested Thursday after Cornwall police investigated allegations that he had made inappropriate comments to a male student who was taking lessons at the music school.
Police chief Todd Hazard said the alleged comments were made a couple of times to the student during August and September.
Melucci was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the town of Cornwall justice court on November 20, 2008. If convicted, Melucci faces up to a year in jail
Comments:
In our justice system, people are innocent until proven guilty. It is truely heartbreaking to publish such news that can obviously ruin not only one's reputation, but ability to make a livelihood. Very sad.
