To the Editor:
As a fiscal conservative and Town Supervisor, Richard Randazzo for twenty years has a proven record in administering economic stability to the Town of Cornwall. Because of Randazzo’s proven economic record, Moody’s Investors Service increased Cornwall’s bond rating from A2 to A1. This increased bond rating can save tax payers thousands of dollars. In fact, the Randazzo administration has provided the residents of the Town of Cornwall with a town tax decrease of 14% in 2008 without cutting services.
A major concern which continues to face home owners in New York is the increasing real property tax burden. The time is long overdue that the method used to finance public education needs to be overhauled. Randazzo plans to change the way public schools are funded so property taxes are not the primary means of raising revenue. Randazzo believes that the State needs to take a greater responsibility in funding schools. Randazzo also believes that New Yorkers should be taxed based on their respective earning.
A few months ago Assemblywoman Nancy Calhoun introduced the “Calhoun Amendment” whereby, millionaires who make $20,000 per week will pay the same tax rate as those who earn $40,000 per year. This of course provides an unjust, inequitable result for those who are not high earners. This is one of many examples which indicate that it’s time for a change. Randazzo will help New Yorkers achieve that most need change. I therefore ask and encourage you to vote for Richard Randazzo for the 96th Assembly District.
