Police Blotter: September 22-28, 2008

Monday, September 22
9:55 a..m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Main Street involving a passing car that struck a parked vehicle.

@7 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a dispute between two youth football players.  Officer speaks to all involved and the parents.

7:34 p.m.  Police respond to an accident involving a motorcycle and two deer.  Officer puts down one of the deer, which was injured.

8:46 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Route 32 to a 44-year-old male from Highland Mills.

11:39 p.m.  Police respond to a Cornwall Plaza for a report of subjects skateboarding and making excessive noise.  Officer observes two males playing with a soccer ball and a one male skateboarding and ask them to leave the area.


Tuesday, September 23
1:18 a.m.  Police respond to a noise complaint at Shamrock Tavern and advise subjects to keep the noise down.

1:43 a.m.  Police respond to a noise complaint at Shamrock Tavern and speak with owner who says he is shutting down for the night.

3:30 a.m.  Police respond to a deer vs motor vehicle accident on Route 9W in which the deer was killed.

4:32 a.m.  Police respond to a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Route 9W in which the deer was killed.

7:47 a.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident with property damage on Route 9W.

9:39 a.m.  Police respond to a complaint of several vehicles parked illegally on Maple Street.  Officer locates the owners of all but one of the vehicles and explains that the hospital provides parking for employees and they need to use the parking lot.  Officer notes that there are 15 empty parking spots in the lot.   While in the parking lot, officer observes several vehicles parked that had been issued tickets by security, an action the officer believes leads to employees parking on Maple Street.

1:22 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident with property damage at Cornwall Plaza.

3:45 p.m.  Police respond to a fire alarm at Cornwall Middle School and are told it was accidentally set off by a student.  Police interview the student who says that he was horseplaying in the weight room, kicked his right foot into the air, lost his balance, and his foot came down on the safety pad on the wall, which includes the pull station for the alarm. 

4:22 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a verbal altercation and speak with a man who explained that he was yelling at his son to help him carry some tools from his van.

4:31 p.m.  Police respond to a the Lemon Building and remove a group of juveniles.

4:34 p.m.  Police issue a ticket for an expired inspection sticker ti a 32-year-old male from Cornwall.

@9 p.m.  Police respond to a domestic dispute involving a boyfriend and girlfriend.

10:19 p.m.  Police respond to a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Clove Road and remove the deer from the roadway.


Wednesday, September 24
9:47 a.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Orrs Mills Road to a 40-year-old male from Newburgh.

10:39 a.m.  Police investigate a report of a purse containing $20 in cash and credit cards taken during the night from a residence on Windsor Lane.

2:03 p.m.  Police observe a vehicle driving 71 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 32 and activate lights and sirens to get the driver to stop.  The driver continued, driving around a stopped school bus with its red lights flashing.  Officer continues to pursue the vehicle, passing the bus that had stopped flashing its lights,  until the vehicle turns into the parking lot of J&K Deli.  Police charge the man, 21-year-old Octavius Kimbrough, of New Windsor, with driving with a suspended license and three traffic violations.

3:00 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident in which a Freightliner truck knocked the side mirror of a vehicle parked on Main Street.

4:55 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a man panhandling at Cornwall Plaza, advise him and send him on his way.

6:22 p.m.  Police move along a group of juveniles skateboarding and hanging out at Lee Road elementary school.

6:51 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Route 32.

8:14 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a person using profanity toward persons at the Willow Avenue elementary school and strongly advise the subject.

Thursday, September 25
11:59 a.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Quaker Avenue to a 51-year-old male from Highland Mills.

9:57 p.m.  Police respond to a report from a woman who said her daughter needed to receive mental health help and she did not know her daughter’s whereabouts.  Police issue a be-on-the-lookout and an officer finds her inside the CVS store.  She agrees to accompany the officer to the mental health unit of Cornwall hospital for an evaluation.


Friday, September 26
3:55 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Route 9W in which a vehicle’s tires hit the median and the car rolled over.  No injuries reported.

3:56 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Angola Road in which a driver slid off a wet road and hit a telephone pole.  The vehicle is leaking motor oil and transmission fluid in the roadway so the road is closed for clean-up.

4:25 p.m.  Police respond to a two-vehicle accident with no injuries on Main Street that occurred when a car pulled out of a parking space and hit a passing car.

7:17 p.m.  Police issue two traffic tickets on Route 32 to a 21-year-old female from New Windsor.

7:31 p.m.  Police issue a ticket for driving 57 mph in a 40 m ph zone on Route 32 to a 42-year-old male from Cornwall.

7:34 p.m.  Police issue a ticket to a 36-year-old male from New Windsor for driving a vehicle with less than two headlights.


Saturday, September 27
1:03 a.m.  Police respond to a Cornwall hospital to assist with disorderly subjects in the emergency room.

9:44 a.m.  Police charge23-year-old Adeerly Zamudio, of Monroe, with driving with a license that had been suspended due to two DWIs, with driving without a license and with driving with an obstructed vision.

1:11 p.m.  Police respond to a vehicle that has swerved to avoid a car and gone off the roadway into a ditch.  The car is towed for repair.

1:32 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a hit-and-run accident that damaged a car parked at Cornwall Plaza.

2:54 p.m.  Police issue a ticket for an expired inspection ticket on Route 9W to a 57-year-old male from Cornwall.

3:20 p.m.  Police respond to a turkey vs. motor vehicle accident on Route 9W.

10:20 p.m.  Police respond to a Cornwall hospital for a report of a violent patient and assist in calming him down.


Sunday, September 28
12:45 a.m.  Police charge 27-year-old Milan Duke, of New York City, with unlawful possession of marijuana after police observe him in a parking lot of a closed business on Shore Road and observe a partially consumed marijuana cigarette in the vehicle.

11:54 a.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Quaker Avenue that occurred when one car rear-ended another at the traffic light.

1:11 p.m.  Police respond to the football field at Cornwall Middle School for a youth league football player with a neck injury.
