Town of Cornwall Police Department

Monday, August 11
8:17 a.m.  Police issue traffic ticket on Byrnes Road to a 32-year-old male from Monroe.

9:20 a.m.  Police observe a red van in a ditch on Mill street.  Operator states that she did not know how her vehicle ended up there.

2:00 p.m.  Police arrest a 28-year-old male from Newburgh for assaulting a nurse at Cornwall hospital.

3:10 p.m.  Police charge a 17-year-old male from Rosedale, N.Y., with aggravated harassment and stalking for making a series of phone calls to a staff member at NYMA between January 1 and February 27, 2008.

3:44 p.m.  Police respond to a minor motor vehicle accident in the hospital parking lot.

4:12 p.m.  Police issue a ticket for operating a motor vehicle while on a cellular phone to a 27-year-old male from New Windsor.

5:42 p.m.  Police issue a ticket for driving 44 mph in a 30 mph zone on Willow Avenue to a 49-year-old female from New Windsor.

6:30 p.m.  Police issue a ticket for an expired inspection to a 55-year-old male from Central Valley.

8:44 p.m.  Police respond to a domestic dispute.


Tuesday, August 12
12:11 a.m.  Respond to Main Street for a report of suspicious activity and advise a group of juveniles to move along.

8:55 a.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Route 9W to a 51-year-old male from New City.

11:20 a.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Route 9W to a 22-year-old male from Fishkill.

11:43 a.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Route 9W to a 36-year-old male from Fresh Meadows, Queens.

1:55 p.m.  Police issue three traffic tickets on Quaker Avenue to a 23-year-old male from Cornwall.

4:56 p.m.  Police respond to a harassment report involving a patient and nurse at Cornwall hospital.

5:48 p.m.  Police respond to a mother-son domestic dispute.

8:45 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Shore Road to a 26-year-old male from Cornwall.

10:22 p.m.  Police charge 22-year-old Corey McElroy, of Cornwall, with driving with a suspended license and ticket her for having a sideheadlight out. 



Wednesday, August 13
12:59 a.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Route 32 to a 39-year-old male from Newburgh.

1:32 a.m.  Police respond to a disturbance on Sheldon Drive in which a woman said she was awoken by loud bangs on her house.  When she went to check, she found an unknown person(s) had thrown oranges at her house.  After sunrise she also finds that eggs had been thrown at her vehicle.

6:30 a.m.  Police come across a car on Route 9W that had just been involved in a deer vs. car motor accident.

7:15 a.m.  Police impound a vehicle after stopping it for a traffic violation and find that the operator does not have a valid license.  Three tickets are written.

9:06 a.m.  Police issue two tickets on Taylor Road to 24-year-old male from Suffern.

10:29 a.m.  At the request of the Cornwall Recreation department, police move along two teenage boys who were observed climbing on the playground set recommended for children ages 5-12.

4:53 p.m.  Police assist a family from England whose rental car had broken down on Route 9W.

7:22 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Route 9W to a 35-year-old female from Newburgh.

10:13 p.m.  Police charge 24-year-old Anthony Sims, of Newburgh, with driving with a suspended license on Route 9W and issue two tickets, one for speeding.



Thursday, August 14
11:56 a.m.   Police investigate a report of a residence on Orrs Mills Road that was burglarized when unknown subjects entered the residence during the daytime and removed property.

4:10 p.m.   Police respond to a motor vehicle accident in which a vehicle on Route 9W hydroplaned and hit the center barrier.

6:40 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident in a parking lot on Route 94.

11:12 p.m.  Police assist with a mental health patient at Cornwall hospital who refused to take his medication.


Friday, August 15

4:30 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a subject at Cornwall hospital who received harassing, unwanted phone calls from an ex-boyfriend.

6:00 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a subject at the hospital who was bitten by a dog that is running at large on Curtis Court.

8:59 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident in which a car hit a tree on Tundra Terrace.


Saturday, August 16
11:13 a.m.  Police respond to a disturbance on Route 32.

17:20 p.m.  Following a traffic stop, police arrest 34-year-old Eric Colon of New Windsor on an outstanding bench warrant.

6:27 p.m.  Police respond to a residence on Willow Avenue for a report of a loud party which allegedly had underage person drinking alcoholic beverages in the street.  Police observe a party in progress but no one in the street.  The loud music ceased at 8:45 p.m. without police intervention.

7:34 p.m.  Police take a report of a motor vehicle accident that occurred when a driver drove over a large rock that fell off the dump truck in front of her, damaging the vehicle’s transmission.

9:07 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Route 32 to a 22-year-old female from New Windsor.

9:23 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Route 32 to an 18-year-old male from New Windsor.

10:25 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Route 9W to a 21-year-old male from Hopewell Junction.

11:09 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Route 94 to a 41-year-old female from Monroe.



Sunday, August 17
2:38 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Route 32 to a 42-year-old female from new Windsor.

4:31 p.m.  Police respond to a complaint from a man who said he was loading groceries into  his car at Key Food when a subject pulled up fast next to him and started yelling and screaming obscenities, according him of throwing garbage and other items at her house.  He told her that police had already spoken with him and it is not he who is throwing items at her house.  Subject then sped off and left the area.
