July 11
5:02 p.m. Police issue a ticket for driving 48 mph in a 30 m ph zone on Taylor Road to a 51-year-old male from New Windsor.
5:10 p.m. Police respond to a motorcycle accident on Route 32 and issue the driver, 31-year-old Garnet Smith, of Monroe, five tickets for driving without a license, speeding, and driving an unregistered, uninsured vehicle.
8:27 p.m. Police respond to a report of individuals throwing water balloons filled with rocks out of a moving SUV on Angola Road. No vehicle matching the description is found.
9:30 p.m. Police issue a ticket for an inadequate muffler to a 27-year-old male from Newburgh.
10:24 p.m. Police issue a ticket for speeding on Route 32 to a 23-year-old female from Walden.
10:39 p.m. Police respond to a dispute between neighbors on Cherry Hill Raod.
July 12
2:54 a.m. Police observe a vehicle parked at the rest stop on Route 32 and interview the driver who said she was tired and needed a rest. She then stated she was on her way to a hospital in Poughkeepsie because she was feeling depressed and hears voices in her head. She is voluntarily transported to St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital.
10:28 a.m. Police impound a vehicle after the driver, a 28-year-old male from Newburgh, was found to be driving without a license. He was ticketed for that and for speeding, not wearing a seat belt and an inadequate muffler.
10:52 p.m. Police respond to a three-vehicle accident on Route 94.
12:02 p.m. Police assist a female driver who had run out of gas on Route 9W.
6:50 p.m. Police respond to a dispute between two juveniles on the internet and advise all parties.
7:45 p.m. Police respond to a domestic dispute.
8:36 p.m. Police issue a ticket to a 29-year-old male from Newburgh on Route 9W.
Sunday, July 13
7:28 a.m. Police issue a ticket to a 16-year-old male driver on Route 32.
10:18 a.m. Police investigate a report of a missing 12-foot row boat that was chained and locked to a tree at Beaver Dam Lake.
12:50 p.m. Police respond to a deer vs motor vehicle accident on Pleasant Hill Road.
3:10 p.m. Police investigate a small fire at 9 Broadway that was extinguished by the fire department. An eyewitness reported seeing teenage boys in the area of Canterbury Creek just prior to the fire. No evidence of a deliberately set fire.
8:00 p.m. Police respond to Cornwall hospital for a report of a patient who threatened the emergency room doctor.
8:58 p.m. Police issue a ticket to a 23-year-old male from New Windsor on Route 32.
9:15 p.m. Police issue a ticket to a 40-year-old female from Newburgh on Route 9W
9:19 p.m. Police respond to a complaint from Leo’s Pizzeria of a minor disturbance by teenagers inside the store who went outside and threw a plastic bottle at the window. No damage.
10:54 p.m. Police issue a ticket to a 29-year-old male from Cornwall on Laurel Avenue.
11:15 p.m. Police issue a ticket to a 24-year-old male from Newburgh on Route 32.
Monday, July 14
12:05 a.m. Police issue a ticket to a 36-year-old male from New Windsor on Route 9W.
12:08 a.m. Police issue a ticket to a 27-year-old male from New Windsor on Route 94.
6:36 a.m. Police issue a ticket to a 24-year-old male from Newburgh on Route 9W.
9:57 a.m. Police respond to the Citgo station on Route 9W for an unruly customer. Subsequent investigation results in his arrest on charge of possession of stolen property.
11:02 a.m. Police investigate a report of identity theft.
2:00 p.m. Police respond to a report of a woman repeatedly trespassing on property on Cherry Hill Road to feed feral cats.
2:22 p.m. Police respond to Cornwall hospital to assist with a 28-year-old male from New Windsor who was due to turn himself into the sheriff later in the day to serve a 3-5 year sentence and who had tried to take his own life. Subject is turned over to the Orange County sheriff.
4:21 p.m. Police issue three tickets to a 19-year-old male from New Windsor who passed an officer in the left lane at the intersection of Quaker Avenue and Route 32, then applied his brake for a brief moment and made a right-hand turn onto Route 32 without stopping.
5:00 p.m. Police respond to a burglary on Firth Street. (See article)
Tuesday, July 15
2:54 a.m. Police respond to a report of youths in the rear of Willow Avenue Elementary School. Upon arrival subjects are gone but police find a damaged screen.
3:35 a.m. Police assist an elderly female who said that water was running in the house and she couldn’t get it to stop. Officer Schofield hears water and observes the floor with about one inch of water on it. He located the problem as a broken washing machine hose and turned off the valve for the house. Subject is advised to contact a plumber in the morning.
6:21 a.m. Police remove a dead deer from the roadway on Route 9W.
12:49 p.m. Police issue a traffic ticket on Route 9W to a 65-year-old female from Highland Mills.
4:02 p.m. Police take a report from a man who said his daughter stole money from him.
@8 p.m. Police take a report of a 16-year-old who was bitten by a dog.
Wednesday, July 16
12:00 a.m. Police respond to a noise complaint and spoke with a subject who said he was watching the MLB All-Star game and may have yelled due to the game.
2:12 a.m. Police assist a resident who received an unwanted phone call.
6:58 a.m. Police respond to a disabled tractor trailer that could not make it under the 9W/Quaker Avenue overpass.
7:20 a.m. Police respond to the rear of the Butterhill Day School for a raccoon that got stuck in the dumpster last night. When officers arrived, there were three scared raccoons in a corner of the dumpster. A piece of wood is placed in the dumpster and the raccoons leave the area. There were no indications that these animals were anything other than scared.
8:16 a.m. Police take a report on a mother-daughter domestic dispute.
10:15 a.m. Police issue a parking ticket to a vehicle 45 Quaker Avenue.
12:14 p.m. Police stop a vehicle for driving 61 mph in a 45 mph zone of Route 9W and notice a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The operator, a 22-year-old female from Newburgh, consents to a search and a very small amount of marijuana is found on the driver’s side floor mat. Operator reports that the vehicle belongs to her mother and that her brother is the only one in the family who smokes marijuana and that it must be his. Operator shows no sign of impairment. Contraband is destroyed and the operator advised and ticketed for speeding.
12:37 p.m. Police respond to Cornwall hospital for a report of an aggressive male who is complying with hospital on arrival.
1:36 p.m. Police respond to a complaint of juveniles marking up the steps of the building at 257 Main Street and leaving trash in front of the building. Police are asked to remove juveniles if they are seen gathering on the steps.
4:40 p.m. Police respond to the mental health unit of Cornwall hospital for a report of a patient who had damaged the front glass window by throwing a metal chair against it.
Thursday, July 17
3:24 a.m. Police assist village police is identifying several subjects behind 2 Alices Coffee Lounge.
5:47 a.m. Police observe a vehicle traveling in the area of Riley Road on Route 94 at a high rate of speed, which is verified at 60 mph in a 40 mph zone. Officer activates his emergency lights and subject continues, then turned into the Price Chopper parking lot. Gerard Edge, 41, of New Windsor is charged with driving an uninspected, unregistered vehicle and issued a ticket for speeding.
6:29 a.m. Police ticket a 39-year-old male from Newburgh for driving 55 mph in a 40 mph zone on Route 94 and for an expired inspection.
9:19 a.m. Police investigate graffiti that was spray painted in the cul-de-sac on Ryan Court.
@10 a.m. Police take of report of larceny of mail from Shore Drive.
12:47 p.m. Police respond to a bicycle vs. motor vehicle accident at Main Street and Veteran’s Way. (See story)
6:27 p.m. Police respond to a report of two suspicious males on Broadway and observe them speaking with homeowners. The two say they are with a company called Major Energy and are advised they need a permit to solicit.
7:59 p.m. Police assist to resolve a case of unauthorized use of a vehicle.
9:50 p.m. Police remove a deer from the roadway on Hudson Street.
11:23 p.m. Police issue two tickets on Route 32 to a 17-year-old male from Monroe.
