Sunday, July 13
6:42 p.m. Police remove a group of juveniles from the Cumberland Farms parking lot.
Monday, July 14
11:30 a.m. Police provide backup to Cornwall police who reported that gas was demanded from the clerk at the Citgo station on Route 9W, then fled. The suspect was observed at Cumberland Farms at 12:17 p.m., his vehicle parked at the gas pump. Cornwall police are contacted and a subsequent investigation leads to his arrest.
6:48 p.m. Police take a report of a gray cell phone that may have been lost in the village municipal parking lot.
7:27 p.m. Police are flagged down by a woman on Hudson Street who is very upset, saying a kid on a bicycle on the sidewalk had threatened to hurt her. The officer speaks with the boy on the bike. The woman said the child is constantly calling her house or her child. The parent of the child on the bike arrives and both parents start yelling. Police intervene and resolve the dispute.
10:26 p.m. Police look for a reported reckless driver seen at NYMA, which then headed to the village. Negative results.
Tuesday, July 15
4:26 p.m. Police issue a summons to a 20-year-old male from Cornwall observed loading a personal watercraft onto a trailer at the riverfront without a permit.
6:52 p.m. Police issue a ticket for driving 42 mph in a 30 mph zone on Hudson Street to a 30-year-old male from Highland Mills.
7:20 p.m. Police issue a ticket for driving 72 mph in a 55 mph zone of Route 9W to a 22-year-old male from Cornwall.
7:29 p.m. Police issue a ticket for an inadequate muffler to a 45-year-old male from Newburgh.
9:07 p.m. Police respond to a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Route 9W.
9:27 p.m. Police issue a ticket for no tail lamp to a 68-year-old male driver from New Windsor.
10:24 p.m. Police respond to a report of a snake in a residence. Homeowner shows the officers where she had last seen the snake, which was in a downstairs bedroom. The room is searched and all furniture moved but the snake is not found. The homeowner states that she was going to sleep upstairs for the night and she is advised to call police if she sees the snake again.
Wednesday, July 16
8:35 a.m. Police respond to Academy Avenue and Holts Lane for a report of a DPW that struck and damaged a hanging sign at Tom’s Tavern while backing up. No damage to the truck was reported.
8:42 a.m. Police take a report of a GPS stolen from the glove box of an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence on Spruce Street during the night.
11:46 a.m. Police respond to a report of a GPS stolen from a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence on Blackwell Street.
12:53 p.m. Police respond to a two car motor vehicle accident on Hudson Street in front of the DB Mart. No injuries.
1:20 p.m. Police take a report of a GPS and a white Ipod Nano stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked at a residence on Pine Street.
