General News: DPW Employee Recuperating from Injuries
July 02, 2008
The village employee who was struck by a sanitation truck Wednesday morning is recuperating from his injuries, according to Dave Halvorsen, head of the department of public works.
Halvorsen said he visited Charles Faurot, 31, at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, where he was flown after the accident. Halvorsen explained that Faurot tried to jump on the rear of a garbage truck that was backing up, missed, and was run over by the vehicle.
He suffered a broken leg, cuts and bruises, but no internal injuries, Halvorsen said.
“He was looking much better, “ Halvorsen reported after he saw Faurot. “He was talking and in good spirits.” No surgery was needed.
Halvorsen said he was the first to arrive on the scene of the accident and stayed with the victim until a helicopter transferred him to Westchester.
“It was a very frightening day,” he said, “I’m glad to say he’s doing well.”

Tough accident, but a very lucky guy. Best wishes to him for a speedy and full recovery.
