June 20, 2008
The Town of Cornwall accepted an offer from the Greater Cornwall Chamber of Commerce to install a 30’x 40’ tent for summer and fall activities outside of Town Hall. The tent was erected on Thursday and it will be used for the first time on Friday, June 20, as a meeting place for the Townies vs. Village People Art Walk Off.
Bob Dewit, owner of DeWit Insurance Co. and president of the Greater Cornwall Chamber of Commerce says “We think the tent will provide Cornwall residents with a protected location for concerts, plays, art events, and a whole host of possible charitable functions.”
Kevin Quigley, the Cornwall town supervisor, agrees. “It’s great that the business and government sectors can work together for the benefit of the Cornwall community,” he said.
Jack Trowell, owner of Cromwell Manor Inn in Cornwall, will work with the Town Clerk’s office to schedule events. Anyone interested in using the tent, located on Town Hall property, should contact Mr. Trowell at 845-548-1670 or the Town Clerk’s office at
845-534-9100. The events must be non-profit and open to the public. Certain restrictions apply.
