Monday, June 9
9:58 a.m. Police take a report of a dog-on-dog attack in which one dog owner said his neighbor told his dog to “go get” the dog of the reporting person. The other dog attacked and then stopped when his owner called him back.

10:55 a.m. Police take a report of a 20” boy’s bicycle stolen from the front porch of a residence on Angola Road.

12:05 p.m. Police ticket a 51-year-old female driver from Blooming Grove for driving 60 mph in a 40 mph zone on Route 94.

2:12 p.m. Police respond to a report of a person walking on Route 32 smoking a marijuana cigarette and is found to be smoking a hand-rolled tobacco cigarette on his way to work. Police provide a courtesy transport for the man to his place of employment.

5:20 p.m. Police respond to a domestic dispute.

10:52 p.m. Police respond to a verbal dispute between two residents of the Maplehurst Inn.


Tuesday, June 10, 2008
2:02 a.m. Police respond to a report of fireworks on Route 218 and locate subjects who deny any activity with fireworks and who are not found to possess any fireworks. Subjects are advised to move along.

4:25 a.m. Police respond to a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Route 9W.

8:42 a.m. Police respond to the area of Route 9W and Laurel Avenue for a report of an injured deer, locate the animal and ascertain that it was beyond medical attention. Police officer dispatches the deer.

11:00 a.m. Police receive a call of a suicidal subject who agrees to voluntarily go to the mental health unit of St. Luke’s Cornwall hospital.

12:40 p.m. Police respond to a motor vehicle accident involving two cars at the intersection of Elm Street and Laurel Avenue.

4:22 p.m. Police respond to a report of a vehicle that had been keyed/scratched while parked overnight on Landmark St.

6:40 p.m. Police respond to a report of juveniles with fireworks on Highlands Avenue. Group ran off except for one juvenile who came over and spoke with the responding officer who advised him.

9:16 p.m. Police respond to a report of a tree down on Route 94 and with the help of a homeowner the officer cleared enough of the obstruction to allow westbound traffic to travel through.

10:46 p.m. Police issue two tickets for vehicle and traffic violations on Route 32 to a 21-year-old female from Cornwall.

11:25 p.m. Police respond to a report of a tree down blocking two lanes of Bede Road and move the tree to open one lane of traffic.

Wednesday, June 11
2:09 a.m. Police assist state DOT workers at Laurel Avenue and Route 9W by setting up flares.

5:03 a.m. Police issue a ticket for speeding on Route 32 to a 49-year-old male from Highland Mills.

5:15 a.m. Police issue a ticket for speeding on Route 32 to a 38-year-old male from Newburgh.

5:41 a.m. Police issue a ticket for driving 70 mph in a 45 mph speed zone on Angola Road to a 23-year-old male from Washingtonville.

5:47 a.m. Police issue a ticket for an inadequate muffler to a 24-year-old male from Newburgh.

6:00 a.m. Police charge a man with harassment for allegedly striking his wife and criminal contempt for violating an order of protection.

9:19 a.m. Police respond to a report of a structure fire on Pleasant Hill Road and see a large amount of black smoke bellowing out of the home’s furnace exhaust port. The fire department is called and the office forced entry into the residence where it was determined that the smoke resulted from a furnace malfunction.

9:20 a.m. Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Route 9W involving two vehicles with no injuries.

4:35 p.m. Police investigate a report of a motor boat and trailer stolen from the property of Quality Auto on Route 32.

4:57 p.m. Police respond to a report from a husband concerned about his wife’s mental health status. The wife is fully cooperative and had already made arrangements to go to Arden Hill hospital.

5:51 p.m. Police respond to a domestic dispute that involved a verbal argument.

5:53 p.m. Police respond to a report of a loose dog on Route 9W, pick the dog up and place it in the dog shelter.

7:00 p.m. Police arrest Karen Nowal, 43, of Holtsville, on a bench warrant.

8:37 p.m. Police respond to the Solid Rock Church on Halloran Road for a report of vehicles drag racing. Officer finds several vehicles parked and two exiting the parking lot. All were strongly advised.

9:13 p.m. Police assist an individual remove a key, watch, and phone charger from his residence.


Thursday, June 12
4:47 a.m.  Police arrest Debbie List, 49, and Michael Scott, 43, both of Cornwall, for petty larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, both misdemeanors, after they allegedly stole 18 hard rolls from a bakery box outside of the Citgo station on Route 9W.

10:20 a.m.  Police take a report of an attempt to use a woman’s identity to get credit.

12:44 p.m.  Police ticket a 45-year-old female from Newburgh for a traffic violation on Route 9W.

1:35 p.m.  Police issue two tickets to a 29-year-old male from New Windsor for traffic violations on Route 9W.

2:31 p.m.  Police respond to a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident on Route 94 and Clove Road.

8:00 p.m.  Police take a report of harassment between two co-workers who file charges against each other.

10:46 p.m.  Police respond to a complaint of a loud group of youths on Tamara lane and speak to one of them who says his father is out of town and he invited friends over.  All subjects are advised to go inside and keep the noise down.  Father is contacted and advised on the situation.


Friday, June 13
6:26 a.m.  Police issue three tickets for traffic violations, including driving without a license, to an 18-year-old male from Monroe and impound his vehicle.

6:26 a.m.  Police issue a ticket to a car parked headed in the wrong direction on Highland Avenue.

6:55 a.m.  Police respond to a report of a bear in the yard of a residence on Orrs Mills Road.  The bear is gone on arrival and the officer advises the resident that there was not much the police could do.  However, after noticing that children were waiting for a school bus nearby, office patrolled the area to ensure that the bear had in fact left.

7:53 a.m.  Police respond to a complaint about a truck with loud music near the high school and later find the truck and advise the driver.

9:20 a.m.  Police contact a driver who a witness identified as failing to yield for a pedestrian and advise her of the situation.

5;15 p.m.  Police charge a 20-year-old male from New Windsor with driving with a suspended license.

6:05 p.m.  Police investigate a report of a cell phone and binoculars stolen from a vehicle parked on Willow Avenue.

8:00 p.m.  Police issue a ticket for a traffic violation on Route 9W.

8:15 p.m.  Police respond to a dispute among three adults regarding their children. All parties advised.

8:50 p.m.  Police respond to a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Mineral Springs Road.

9:07 p.m.  Police assist the Sheriff’s Department with removing an individual from a household.

10:15 p.m.  Police issue a ticket to a 47-year-old male from Washingtonville for speeding on Route 94.

11:08 p.m.  Police arrest Jesus Romero, 36, of Newburgh, on an outstanding warrant.


Saturday, June 14
1:01 a.m.  Police arrest Irwing Rivera, 19, of New Windsor, for driving with a revoked and suspended license on Route 94 and also issue two tickets for driving without a license and for speeding.

12:00 p.m.  Police take a report from a person who found unauthorized charges on her credit card.

12:46 p.m.  Police respond to an accident between a vehicle and a bicyclist on Main Street.

1:46 p.m.  Police investigate a report of harassing text messages and phone calls between youths that were intended as a prank.

1:57 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Orrs Mills Road.

6:00 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Route 32 and Junger Road that occurred when one car swerved into the lane of the oncoming vehicle, knocking off its mirror.

10:00 p.m.  Police respond to a report of three loose dogs on Shelly Court and advise the owner to lock them up.

11:40 p.m.  Police respond to a complaint of noisy neighbors on Cherry Hill Road and advise parties.


Sunday, June 15
1:27 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Route 9W.

5:23 p.m.  Police arrest 16-year-old and 17-year-old males from Cornwall and charge then with illegal possession of fireworks after a witness saw them throw fireworks from a vehicle on Angola Road.

7:54 p.m.  Police respond to a domestic dispute between two brothers.

8:59 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a mental health patient who ran away from Cornwall Hospital and assist in transporting him back to the hospital.

9:44 p.m.  Police respond to a minor motor vehicle accident in the Cornwall Plaza parking lot.
