The Red Sox Junior/Senior Little League baseball team won the championship gam e on Thursday against the Cardinals in an extra-inning game that ended with a score of 2-1.
From the first inning, it was a pitcher’s battle, with starting pitchers Michael Trainor on the mound for the Cardinals and Pat Vinett for the Red Sox. Devon Bruce gave a solid performance as relief pitchers for the Cardinals. John McConville and James Patterson wrapped up the second half of the game pitching for the Red Sox.
The Sox were the first to score in a run by Guy Burkhardt. For the Cardinals, Corey Ayres made it home from third on a ‘sucker” move by Eric Stein on second base to tie the game 1-1.
The Red Sox got another run at the top of the 7th inning and the Cardinals were unable to match it, ending the game.
