General News: Junior Girl Scouts Win Bronze
June 04, 2008
By Samantha Reed
After lots of hard work and commitment, Cornwall’s Troop 23 has earned its Bronze Award. One of the prerequisites of this award is to earn the Junior Aide Award for helping younger scouts. Troop 23 worked with Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts leading them in Eco Action and Pet Care Badges.
The Bronze Award is the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can receive. You learn leadership and planning skills. For Troop 23, they planned a new fire pit behind the Cornwall Cabin. The girls reconstructed the old fire pit and created a second fire ring. This will be safer for the girls moving around the fire.
They are also holding a camp-out at the cabin for all Girl Scouts on June 7-8, 2008. The camp-out is to celebrate the improved fire pit. The girls working on the project are Emily Haibon, Sami Reed, Christen Donlon, Sophie Rice, Roya Lari, Fiona Durkin, and Athena Blair.
Comments:
Nicely written article, Sami. I'm looking forward to attending the Bronze Award Ceremony to see you girls get your well-deserved recognition.
