Local photographer Tom Doyle won the first and second place prizes at a competition sponsored by the Professional Photographers Society of New York, Hudson Valley Section last Wednesday night at the Quality Inn in Newburgh.
Doyle’s photo of a heron standing in the water, a shot he took on the grounds of the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum, garnered the top prize out of pool of 42 photos submitted. Doyle calls that photo Serenity in Still Water.
Another one of his photographs, Morning in a Misty Meadow, won second place. It features a scene near the intersection of Jackson Avenue and Route 94.
You can see more of Doyle’s work during the Greater Cornwall Art Walk. Five of his prints are on display in Paul Gould’s Hudson Valley Gallery, on Hudson Street in Cornwall-on-Hudson. Those prints include a couple of new photos taken at the Cloisters in New York City.
