Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson Police Department

Sunday, April 20
5:29 a.m. Police investigate a report of an unusual banging noise coming from a basement.  Officer checks through the inside of the house and finds no disturbance.

10:50 a.m.  Police ticket a 38-year-old female from Highland Falls, a 49-year-old male from Newburgh and a 40-year-old male from New Windsor, all on motorcycles, for driving 85 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 9W.

11:00 a.m.  Police respond to a minor motor vehicle accident at the DB Mart on Hudson Street that occurred when a car leaving a parking spot struck another vehicle.

2:42 p.m.  Police ticket an 18-year-old male from Plainview for a vehicle and traffic offense.


Monday, April 21
6:07 p.m.  Police ticket a 17-year-old male from New Windsor for a traffic violation on Hudson Street.

6:17 p.m.  Police ticket a 34-year-old male from Cornwall-on-Hudson for a traffic violation on Hudson Street.

6:26 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a small white dog running loose on Duncan Avenue, find the dog with no tags and bring it to the town dog pound.

7:15 p.m.  Police ticket a 45-year-old male from Highland Falls for a traffic offense on Hudson Street.

7:43 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a vehicle parked on Hudson Street whose driver side panel and rear bumper had been smashed in.

8:59 p.m.  Police ticket a 28-year-old female from New Windsor for a traffic violation on Hudson Street.


Tuesday, April 22
12:14 a.m.  Police respond to a report that the doors of St. Thomas of Canterbury church are wide open, check the interior and find nothing.

2:18 p.m.  Police ticket two vehicles parked at the riverfront without a permit.

6:52 p.m.  Police respond to a complaint of a loose dog at the riverfront and advise its owner.


Wednesday, April 23
1:08 p.m.  Police respond to a complaint by a man who says his landlord took his basketball hoop away and he doesn’t know where he put it.  Police speaks with landlord who says he will return the basketball hoop the next day.

2:10 p.m.  Police assist with brush fire on Deer Hill Road.

3:35 p.m.  Police assist COVAC with a male on the sidewalk at Cherry and Hudson St. who is conscious and alert.

11:00 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a group of teens on the Duncan Avenue trails who are gone on arrival.

11:25 p.m.  Police assist COVAC with a 5-year-old boy who is having difficultly breathing.


Thursday,  April 24
12:24 a.m.  Police ticket an 18-year-old male from New Windsor for an equipment violation on his vehicle on Hudson Street.

9:54 a.m.  Police respond to a report from the state Department of Transportation that while they were on the high point of Route 218 they saw an unoccupied canoe in the Hudson River.  An officer checks the riverfront without finding anything and notifies the town of Highlands.

7:23 p.m.  Police advise a subject on a dirt bike in the roadway on Grandview Avenue.

9:38 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Route 9W,


Friday, April 25
1:40 a.m.  Police arrest 29-year-old Thomas Wilson, of New Windsor, for violating an order of protection by repeatedly calling and hanging up on a resident of the village.

2:15 p.m.  Police respond to a noise complaint on Avenue A.

6:48 p.m.  Police issue a summons for a traffic violation to a 31-year-old male from New Windsor on Route 9W.

6:59 p.m.  Police issue a summons for a traffic violation on Route 9W to a 20-year-old male from Cornwall.

7:11 p.m.  Police issue a ticket for a traffic violation on Route 9W to a 48-year-old female from Newburgh.

8:54 p.m.  Police issue a summons for a traffic violation on Hudson Street to a 31-year-old female from New City.

9:34 p.m.  Police issue a summons for a traffic violation on Hudson Street to a 17-year-old female from Vail’s Gate.

10:10 p.m.  Police issue a summons for driving 45 mph in a 30 mph zone on Hudson Street to a 41-year-old female from Cornwall-on-Hudson.


Saturday, April 26
12:28 a.m.  Police advise subjects at the riverfront that the park is closed.

1:23 a.m.  Police arrest 19-year-old Randahl Schmitt, of Cornwall, for driving with a suspended license and is ticketed for a loud muffler.

1:06 p.m.  Police ticket a vehicle parked at the riverfront without a parking sticker.

4:40 p.m.  Police respond to Mountain Road for a report of a cup, lid, and straw thrown at a car parked there.

8:48 p.m.  Police issue two tickets to a 16-year-old male for driving outside the restrictions of his license.

9:40 p.m.  Police respond to Bayview Terrace for a report of lights going on and off in an unusual manner somewhere near Dock Hill Road.  After the exterior lights in an unknown home went on and off, a vehicle drove past the house, arousing suspicions. No problems found.
