General News: St. Thomas Girls Basketball Team Wins

The St. Thomas girls basketball team, composed of 7th and 8th graders, has just clinched the Orange County Parochial Schools League (OCPSL) Eastern Division Championship. They will go on to play the Western champs later this month in St. Joseph's Middletown.
The team is now 14-0 with two more regular season games to play this weekend. OCPSL championship play off games are scheduled for March 15th & 16th at Mount St. Mary's.
Here’s what happened in the last two games:
St. Thomas-48 vs. Leptondale Christian Academy-20
Meghan Gallivan scored 10 points & Megan Staudle scored 12 points against Leptondale Christian Academy at Saturday's home game. Point guard Caroline Staudle put up 14 points and thwarted many passes accumulating 9 steals. Jennifer Sayegh worked the boards and defensively played a very strong game for 6 points. Modi McDonnell and Victoria Brennan were at the foul line for one basket each. Tori Adolino and Caroline Gallivan both scored a basket.
St. Thomas-40 vs. St. Joseph's New Windsor-16
Meghan Gallivan topped the scoring with 17 points Sunday against New Windsor followed by Megan Staudle with 11. Erin McFadden, Meghan Meyers and Victoria Brennan performed well on defense, shutting down the Eagles. A well-balanced team effort landed the lady Wolverines the Eastern Division clincher.
