New Windsor police have arrested a man they say drove his SUV through the front of a deli in New Windsor, stole the ATM machine by putting it in his vehicle and drove off.
A video camera captured the entire scene at 2:20 a.m. as it happened on Wednesday, February 6. On viewing the tape, police detective Dan Breen recognized the SUV from a traffic stop several months earlier.
New Windsor police lieutenant Michael Farbent said police went to the suspect’s home in Florida, New York, and found the vehicle still covered with shattered glass. Armed with a search warrant, they entered the home and found the ATM machine in the kitchen.
Police charged 39-year-old Eric Figueroa with third-degree burglary, a felony, and second-degree criminal mischief. The incident occurred at the Vail’s Gate Food Mart on Windsor Highway in New Windsor.
