To the Editor:
After 7 years of the Bush Administration’s incompetence, lies and lack of leadership, the Democrats have an opportunity on February 5th to vote for the candidate that will bring people together to clean up the mess that the new President will inherit next year. That candidate is Senator Barack Obama.
In 2002, Senator Obama had the instinct and judgment to state his opposition to the Iraq war when it was not popular to do so. Now almost five years later, our young men and women are still in Iraq; he will be the one to bring our troops home.
I believe that Senator Obama is the candidate that is addressing the important issues such as the economy, health care, education and social security. His positions are clearly stated in his website www.barackobama.com.
Do we want more of the same in Washington? His appeal transcends racial and party lines; Senator Obama is not the establishment candidate. He will bring a new and fresh perspective to Washington.
Many people are saying that this country will make history if we elect a woman or African-American for the Presidency. I say let’s make history by electing the person that is most qualified and competent to lead this country – Vote for Barack Obama.
