Police Blotter: November 5-11, 2007

Monday, November 5
6:45 a.m.  Police issue a summons for speeding on Orrs Mills Road to a 35-year-old male from New Windsor.

7:30 a.m.  Police respond to a report of possible criminal mischief and on arrival police observe a banana on the front windshield of a vehicle, the word “HAHA” written with the frost on the rear view mirror and two Foster beer cans tied to the rear bumper by a red ribbon.  No damage was done to the vehicle and it appeared to be a practical joke by friends.  Complainant said she was not having problems with any friends and did not know who did it.

9:20 a.m.  Police arrest Samantha Correa, 19, of Newburgh, for operating a vehicle with a suspended registration.  Correa is also given a summons for speeding on Route 32.

10:37 a.m.  Police arrest Eileen McGregor, 52, of Washingtonville, for driving without a license and for operating a vehicle with a suspended registration and is given a summons for driving without a valid inspection.

1:43 p.m.  Police issue a summons for driving 60 mph in a 45 mph zone on Route 9W to a 40-year-old female from Kerhonkson.

2:18 p.m.  Police issue a summons for driving 55 mph in a 40 mph zone on Route 32 to a 19-year-old female from New Windsor.

2:32 p.m.  Police issue a summons for an expired inspection sticker to a 37-year-old female from New Windsor.

2:28 p.m.  Police investigate a report of a laptop stolen from Cornwall Central High School.

3:37 p.m.  Police issue a summons to a 57-year-old school bus driver from Newburgh for driving 58 mph in a 45 mph zone on Route 9W.

5:45 p.m.  Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 94 to a 22-year-old female from Rock Tavern.

9:10 p.m.  Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 9W to a 26-year-old male from Vernon.


Tuesday, November 6
12:36 a.m.  Police arrest 19-year-old Joseph Zaccaro, of Washingtonville, after responding a report of youths pulling streets signs in the area of Hickory Avenue.  The stop sign at Hickory and Alder had been pulled out of the ground and thrown on the property nearby.  Office Thompson canvassed the area and saw a subject run across the street carrying what appeared to be a red real estate sign.  The subject did not stop and the officer pursued the male until he saw him lying on the ground trying to hide.

6:40 a.m.  Police issue a summons to a tractor-trailer blocking the parking lot of the J&K Deli on Route 32.

7:22 a.m.  Police issue a summons for speeding on Jackson Avenue to a 60-year-old male from Port Jervis.

1:07 p.m.  Police take a report of credit card fraud.

2:04 p.m.  Police respond to a report of an irate person on Willow Avenue who says he is upset over incorrect change given to him for a beer purchase.  Parties advised to keep the noise down.

2:44 p.m.  Police investigate a report of a black and silver Ipod and an Ipod docking station that was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Chestnut Street overnight.

4:21 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident in which a vehicle ran the red light at Quaker Avenue and Elm Street and hit a second vehicle.

8:56 p.m.  Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 94 to an 18-year-old male from Washingtonville.

9:16 p.m.  Police issue a summons for speeding on Route 94 to a 24-year-old female from Newburgh.


Wednesday, November 7
1:33 a.m.  Police issue a summons for missing a headlight to a 21-year-old male from Monroe.

7:25 a.m.  Police issue a summons for speeding on Main Street to a 17-year-old male from Cornwall.

7:41 a.m.  Police issue a summons for driving 44 mph in a 30 mph zone on Quaker Avenue to a 17-year-old male from Cornwall.

9:57 a.m.  Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Orrs Mill Road to a 30-year-old male from Cornwall-on-Hudson.

10:12 a.m.  Police arrest 41-year-old Jana Roeder, of Mountainville, for driving with a suspended license after she was stopped while driving 73 mph on Route 32.  She also received a summons for speeding.

12:40 p.m.  A 14-year-old boy at the high school was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony.  The child possessed four oxcycodene, 11 Ibuprofen 800 mg. and two acetaminophen with codeine in his backpack. He was released to his mother to return to family court.

7:05 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a person soliciting door-to-door and bothering homeowners on Peter Scott Drive. Officer speaks with an individual who had a permit only good in the village of Cornwall and he is advised to stay out of town.

8:50 p.m.  Police issue a summons for an expired inspection ticker to a 26-year-old female from New Windsor.

9:22 p.m.  Police issue a summons for speeding on Route 94 to a 19-year-old female from Salisbury Mills.

10:25 p.m.  Police respond to a report of subjects in a vehicle whose occupants smashed mailboxes on Mineral Springs Road.  Unfounded.


Thursday, November 8
1:51 a.m.  Police issue a parking ticket to a vehicle abandoned on the side of Route 32.

6:26 a.m.  Police issue two summonses for driving 78 mph in a 55 mph zone and 78 mph in a 40 mph zone on Route 32 to a 37-year-old female from Cornwall.

7:18 a.m.  Police issue a summons for driving 57 mph in a 45 mph zone on Route 9W to a 45-year-old male from Newburgh.

9:41 a.m.  Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 94 to a 61-year-old male from Washingtonville.

12:13 p.m.  Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Jackson Avenue to a 27-year-old male from Washingtonville.

2:40 p.m.  Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 9W to a 44-year-old male from Newburgh.

5:16 p.m.  Police respond to the Cornwall hospital for a subject who came into the E.R. stating that he wanted to die due to some lewd sexual acts he had committed with a 16- and 17-year-old male two years ago.  He had gone to the state police barracks in Brewster and spoke an investigator.  The responding officer speaks with the investigator who says they were not pursuing any charges at this time due to the fact the 17-year-old male was of legal age and they do not have the identity of the 16-year-old.  The subject is admitted to the mental health unit for evaluation.

9:05 p.m.  Police issue a summons for speeding on Route 94 to a 19-year-old male from Cornwall.
9:48 p.m.  Police issue a summons for speeding on Route 94 and a summons for an expired inspection to a 34-year-old female from Harriman.


Friday, November 9
1:15 a.m.  Police issue a summons for speeding on Route 94 to a 25-year-old female from Newburgh.

1:39 a.m.  Police issue a summons for driving 62 mph in a 45 mph zone on Route 9W to a 35-year-old male from Campbell Hall.

2:03 a.m.  Police issue a summons for driving 63 mph in a 45 mph zone on Route 9W to a 42-year-old male from Jamaica.

5:44 a.m.  Police issue a summons for driving 55 mph in a 40 mph zone on Orrs Mills Road to a 26-year-old male from Detroit.

6:27 a.m. Police issue a summons for driving 55 mph in a 40 mph zone on Route 32 to a 32-year-old male from Newburgh.

6:53 a.m.  Police issue a summons for driving 57 mph in a 40 mph zone on Route 32 to a 40-year-old male from Palm Bay.

7:04 a.m.  Police issue a summons for driving 56 mph in a 40 mph zone on Route 32 to a 39-year-old female from New Windsor.

10:24 a.m. Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Willow Avenue to a 22-year-old male from Monroe.

2:32 p.m.  Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 32 to a 19-year-old male from New Windsor.

7:18 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Main Street.

11:26 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident in which a driver ran through the stop sign at Main Street and Academy Avenue, hitting a second vehicle.  The driver of the second vehicle, who had a restricted license not valid after 9 p.m., is issued a summons.


Saturday, October 10
1:37 a.m.  Police Sgt. Philip Sinagra observes a vehicle in a parking lot on Route 32 with the interior light on.  He turns around and drives to the vehicle with his spotlight on and observes two males in the front seat.

The driver appears to be attempting to place something in the back seat of the vehicle.  Sgt. Sinagra asks them what they are doing and the passenger says that he resides in an apartment nearby.  The driver says he is dropping his friend off.  The driver appears to be nervous and Sinagra asks if he has anything in the vehicle that he should not have.  The driver tells Sinagra he has a small amount of cocaine and points to the rear seat where Sinagra observes a CD case with a white powder substance on it.

Sinagra arrests John Casey, 25, of New Windsor, and charges him with criminal possession of a controlled substance as well as issues a summons for an expired inspection sticker.

4:46 a.m.  Police issue a summons for an expired inspection to a 21-year-old female from Newburgh.

9:11 a.m.  Police assist an elderly woman who says that she is being haunted by ghosts in and around her residence and she would like police to install no trespassing signs on her property to keep the ghosts away.  Police contact the woman’s daughter who agrees to get help for her mother.

10:34 a.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Angola Road.

12:00 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Route 9W.

                    Police charge a 16-year-old girl with identify theft, a misdemeanor, after her mother said that she made unauthorized online purchases totaling $505.59 and signed charges against her daughter.

7:18 p.m.  Police issue a summons for driving 60 mph in a 45 mph zone to a 20-year-old male from New Windsor.

9:39 p.m.  Police issue a summons for driving with a missing headlight to an 18-year-old male from New Windsor.


Sunday, November 11
1:59 a.m.  Police issue a summons for driving 55 mph in a 40 mph zone on Route 32 to a 39-year-old male from Newburgh.

8:58 a.m.  Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 32 to a 48-year-old female from Cornwall-on-Hudson.

3:10 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Quaker Avenue and issue a summons to a 19-year-old male driver for failure to produce a license.

6:44 p.m.  Police issue a summons for speeding on Route 32 to a 47-year-old female from Washingtonville.

8:21 p.m.  Police issue a summons for an obstructed view (large dice on the rear view mirror) to a 25-year-old male from Newburgh.

9:10 p.m.  Police issue a summons for speeding on Route 32 to a 21-year-old female from New Windsor.

After reading the town police blotter and the village police blotter I am thinking it is time to consolidate.

Town is getting all the action. Wouldn't want our village force to get bored...
You know the old saying, the devil finds work for idle hands ;-)
