Police Blotter: October 4-6, 2007

Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson Police Department

Thursday, October 4
8:52 a.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Church Street.

5:15 p.m.  Police issue a summons for driving 63 mph in a 30 mph zone on Route 218 to a 30-year-old female from Newburgh.

Friday, October 5
10:00 a.m.  Police issue two parking summons to vehicles parked in a no-parking zone on Holt’s Lane.

1:43 p.m.  Police issue a summons for driving 75 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 9W to a 39-year-old male.

6:34 p.m.  Police arrest Paul Miller, 19, of Cornwall-on-Hudson, for the unauthorized use of a vehicle and on an outstanding warrant.

8:57 p.m.  Police advise a group of juveniles at the riverfront park to move along.

Saturday, October 6
530 p.m.  Police investigate a report of a child left without proper supervision.

10:40 p.m.  Police stop two 15-year-old males carrying backpacks on Hudson Street and ask them what kind of beer they had.  The subjects open the backpacks that each held about 15 beers.  The youths, one from Mahopac and one from Cornwall are returned to the home of the one from Cornwall where the parent is advised of the situation.  Teens are left in the parent’s custody.

11:47 p.m.  Police stop a vehicle for an equipment violation and driver admits he is under the influence of marijuana.  The vehicle is searched and no further marijuana is found, only a marijuana pipe.  A passenger who was not under the influence of anything was able to drive the vehicle from the scene.  Police note that a subject cannot be charged based on an oral admission alone and subject passed a field sobriety test.
