General News: ALERRT Training Scheduled

On Thursday, March 14, 2019, from approximately 4:00pm till 11:30pm, the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y., Police Department will be conducting formal training exercises with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office “S.O.G.” Team, Special Operations Group, at the Cornwall-on-Hudson Elementary School Building & Grounds, #234 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y.
Early last year, Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y., Police Department applied for and was awarded a $10,000.00 training grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for, ALERRT Training, (Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training). This training is imperative in the event of an actual active shooter event, hostage situation and/ or other related type emergencies.
Cornwall-on-Hudson Police Department is committed to keeping all its’officers well trained and conducts other regular trainings throughout the year, not only to better the officer and the Department, but also to help keep the community safe.
Please don’t be alarmed by the increased presence of police officers during the above listed date and time periods in the vicinity of Cornwall-on-Hudson Elementary School as this very important training event will be taking place.
Cornwall-on-Hudson Police Department would also like to thank the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the Town of Cornwall Police Department and the Cornwall Central School District for all their support in making this training happen.
