To the Editor:
The Cornwall Independence Day Committee is seeking candidates for grand marshal of the 2017 parade and would like the community to offer suggestions as it has in the past.
The criteria are simple:
- the candidate should be from Cornwall, or the mid-Hudson Valley;
- the candidate should have contributed to improving the quality of life in Cornwall, or the mid-Hudson Valley;
- the candidate cannot already have been honored as grand marshal of the Cornwall Independence Day Parade.
In the past the committee has chosen musicians, teachers, coaches, clergy and community leaders. Last year the committee chose community servants, Ed and Floranne Moulton. In 2015, the committee chose teacher Eileen Zwart and three years ago, the committee chose Belding and Doris Jones Clearwater, owners of Jones Farm.
If you would like to suggest someone, please tell us why you think the candidate deserves the honor via email ([email protected]), phone 416-8018 or mail: CIDC, P.O. Box 542, Cornwall 12518.
Our next meeting has been postponed to Wednesday, April 12, at 7 p.m. at Munger Cottage. All are welcome.
All the best,
Brendan G. Coyne
