Dear Editor,
I wanted to reach out to inquire as to whether or not there's been more conversation or planning in the discussion of improving the curb appeal of the Hudson Valley Food Bank building on the corner of Payson Road and Hudson Street. Having grown up my entire life in the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson, and choosing to remain here to raise a family, I take extreme pride in our Village's small town, quaint environment and would welcome any enhancements to improve upon existing structures.
In my opinion, adding some awnings to the front and side of this older brick building, replacing the run-down steel fence with white fencing that runs along Payson Road, updating the sign of this organization and enhancing the landscaping to remove old, un-manicured bushes would be beneficial to the Village street line, as well as to those residents entering Payson and the Boulevard.
Driving into this development, and seeing directly into a commercial building lot with tractor trailer beds in the far corner not being used, and commercial dumpsters is not creating a quaint small town appeal. Updating this building would enhance the efforts being made by the Village Pizzeria and those of Pisces Restaurant to create a positive business appearance. These buildings are some of the last few that run along the far end of Hudson Street. Payson Road is also utilized for the July 4th line up, drawing in other guests and participants to this great event, and I think enhancing the outer appearance of the Food Bank would be beneficial for curb appeal.
I respect and appreciate the efforts of the Hudson Valley Food Bank, and I know the Village Elementary school that my son attends has provided an educational awareness to their great efforts with can good drive donations. The inner beauty of this organization is tremendous, and I think beautifying the outside of this building would be a great asset to the Village residents, other local businesses and to those who visit our beautiful location.
