To the Editor,
I’m running out of superlatives to describe RiverFest. This may very well have been the best turn out ever. Thanks for coming down to the river and helping us celebrate! We're very grateful for the support of the Greater Cornwall Community.
There are many individuals and organizations to thank. First, thanks to Mayor Brendan Coyne and the Village Board for allowing there to be a RiverFest every June. Village Clerk Jeanne Mahoney and her staff, Dave Halvorsen and the DPW and Chief Dixon and the Village PD all stepped up as usual, and we can’t thank them enough. Superintendent Neal Miller and the Cornwall Central School District, Scoutmaster Ron Jurain and the Scouts and Leaders of Boy Scout Troop 118, the CCHS National Honor Society, COVAC, Storm King Engine Company and the crew from SKAT all played important roles. Without the support and participation of all these organizations and individuals, RiverFest wouldn’t be possible. A special thanks to Storm King Golf Club for the last-minute loan of a golf cart to help transport our vendors. We would also like to thank all of our contributors and sponsors for providing the financial support necessary to pay for RiverFest. RiverFest is a team effort. Committee members Kate Benson, Diane Bartoszak, Kristin Doyle, Kathy Ferraro, Gloria Gerard, Lis Hellwege, Brian Hunt, Elizabeth Moore, Joann Munkelt, Tom O'Shea, Howard Protter, Bob Petrilli, Jeff Schaack, Ray Stewart, Rowland Thomas and Bill Webber worked tirelessly to make the 20th anniversary RiverFest our best ever. This small group of people that gives so generously of their time and talent deserves all the credit. The RiverFest Committee and the Cornwall Community are what make days like this past Saturday so remarkable.
Please mark your calendars for the first Saturday in June, and join us next year for RiverFest 2018.
