Letters to the Editor: Committee Updates Wanted

January 16, 2007

Dear Editor:
I believe the residents of the village have the right to know what is going on with the various groups (Master Plan committee, LDC,waterfront committee and the Hudson/Fulton/Champlain celebration committee), including various grants that the committee members may be applying for.

We deserve every opportunity to be updated and, for this information we must call "the number listed?"

How about a website within the Cornwall-On-Hudson newsletter for all committees?

John Buescher
18 Mountain Road
Cornwall-on-Hudson

Editor's Response:  Cornwall-on-Hudson.com would be glad to provide space for information that any of the committees wants to make public in the format of, for example, an occasional column.

Comments:

Dear Editor,

Iżll be happy to update you on our progress as things evolve.

So far, we held public hearings during October and November, as we promised. We were encouraged by the participation at those meetings by people from all segments of our community. As I recall, coverage was provided by both internet and print media.

We have yet to meet since the holidays to compile the input we received. Once the next meeting date is set it will, of course, be published.

By New York State law, all of our meetings are open to the public but not necessarily for participation. We welcome all input from the community on an ongoing basis to [email protected] and also in the box at Village Hall. As we move ahead, we will provide additional public forums.

At this point we have no authority to solicit grants or funding from any source. Our initial charge is to determine what the consensus is regarding changes, both short and long term, to the Village waterfront. Once we accomplish that, we will work with the Village Board to facilitate any changes or improvements.

Thanks for your interest and participation.

Sincerely,
John B. Wenz, Chairman
COH Riverfront Revitalization Committee

This comment from Lee Murphy: I like John Buescher's idea of a regular update on the efforts of the 2009 Celebration committee. Just as soon as we get rolling. Thanks, John. Lee Murphy
