June 10, 2015
To the Editor,
This makes it nine years without rain, and counting. It was a little windy, but we all had another fantastic day on Saturday. Thanks for coming to our party! We're very grateful for the support of the Greater Cornwall Community.
There are many individuals and organizations to thank. First, thanks to Mayor Brendan Coyne and the Village Board for allowing there to be a RiverFest. Village Clerk Jeanne Mahoney and her staff, Dave Halvorsen and the DPW and Chief Dixon and the Village PD all stepped up, as usual, and we can’t thank them enough. Superintendent Neal Miller and the Cornwall Central School District, Scoutmaster Ron Jurain and the Scouts and Leaders of Boy Scout Troop 118, COVAC and Storm King Engine Company all played important roles. Without the support and participation of all these organizations and individuals, RiverFest wouldn’t be possible. We would also like to thank all of our contributors and sponsors for providing the financial support necessary to pay for RiverFest. A complete list can be found on our website: www.river-fest.com, and it's not too late to make a donation for RiverFest 2015.
RiverFest is a team effort. Committee members Kate Benson, Kathy Ferraro, Gloria Gerard, Brian Hunt, Joann Munkelt, Tom O'Shea, Howard Protter, Bob Petrilli, Jeff Schaack, Karen Schaack, Bill Webber and Lis Hellwege worked tirelessly to make RiverFest 18 our best ever. This small group of people that gives so generously of their time and especially their talent deserve all the credit. The RiverFest Committee and the Cornwall Community are what make days like this past Saturday so remarkable.
We also had some volunteers step up to help us during the festival. Thank you to Elena Dionisio of Navy Federal Credit Union, Diane Bartoszak of the Motorcyclepedia Museum, Abby and Molly Dunning, Alex Fitzgerald and Lizzie Webber. We hope you had as much fun as we did! Thanks also to Storm King Golf Club for the loan of a golf cart to help transport our vendors.
Finally, a huge thank you to Joe Sayegh of Gentech, LTD. There was a power failure at around 12:30. There would have been no music if Joe hadn't stepped up and lent us a generator. The music went on all afternoon as a result of Joe's community spirit and generosity!
Please mark your calendars for the first Saturday in June, and join us next year for RiverFest 2016.
Sincerely,
Wynn Gold
Chairman
