General News: The Winter Farmers Market
March 13, 2015
CORNWALL, NY – Every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month the Cornwall Winter Farmers Market is held from 10am – 2pm inside Munger’s Cottage, up the hill from the Library.
The Cornwall Community Co-Op originally started the Market, however, they were unable to continue it. After a vote by the Town Board, it was agreed that the Market would benefit the Cornwall Community. So the Town started the Market’s winter season this November.
From local farms, to Wineries, there is a little bit of everything at the Market. On Monday, February 23rd, Town Board voted in favor of allowing wine tastings to be conducted by approved Farm Wineries at the Farmers Market, due to growing popularity and requests.
Market Manager, Erin O’Dell, has seen an increase in shoppers and she hopes that with continuing support and promotion that the market will continue to grow in popularity. With an average of 13 vendors currently at the indoor market, and a long list of other vendors interested, it definitely seems that the Winter Farmers Market is a success.
The Market’s winter season will end in late May, where it will be moved outdoors for its summer season which will be held each week on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Until then head to the Indoor Winter Farmers Market this Saturday, March 7th and March 21st.
