My thoughts on some current issues.
(1) The County Building in Goshen. (Otherwise known as the Mausoleum!) Not only is it an eyesore in the quaint Village of Goshen, but, once inside, it wasn't easy finding whatever you were there for.
Spending millions of dollars to "fix" a building that had a leaky roof from the first rainfall--and continually after that makes no sense at all!
We shouldn't "throw good money to bad." Sell it, and build a new County Center that is not some architect's nightmare. We made a mistake, originally, by accepting the existing building. Let's not do it again by fixing it! Two wrongs do not make a right!
(2) The County Nursing Home. It's losing millions of dollars of taxpayer money every year. We just cut a few million off that figure. How were we able to do that? Where was that "extra" money going?
Some Legislators tout the "savings" but, we are still losing money.
I'm reminded of my wife saying she just saved $50 buying a new coat that listed at $150. Uh, wait a minute--I think you got it cheaper--but you spent $100. Same story with the Nursing Home--we saved a few bucks, but we're still losing money!! Sell it!!
