January 02, 2015
As we reflect on the close of 2014, New York saw its share of positives: we reduced the small business income tax rate to its lowest level in fifty years; I also supported a successful effort to install a property tax freeze program for homeowners and significantly expand the EPIC program to assist seniors afford prescriptions; our local school districts saw substantial increases in state aid that I helped secure; the minimum wage increased; and we were successful in fighting to keep an emergency room open that was slated to be made part-time.
Looking to 2015, there is still much work to be done and I remain steadfastly committed to improving the quality of life and cost of living here in the Hudson Valley. That begins with real, significant tax relief and reform for families living paycheck to paycheck, trying to get ahead.
I’ll continue fighting for more fairly funded schools and working to adopt measures that make college more affordable for middle-class families. When it comes to local infrastructure, I remain a strong advocate for repairing our crumbling roads and advancing critical capital improvements. Last but not least, I’ll continue holding the leadership of Kiryas Joel accountable because no one should be above the law – I don’t care how much political clout one has.
I wish each and every one of the people I’m privileged to call a constituent a happy, healthy, and successful 2015. I’m looking forward to doing my best to represent you in the coming year.
