CCHS DRAMA CLUB PRESENTS THE HEARTFELT COMEDY “THE BOYS / GIRLS NEXT DOOR”
NOVEMBER 13, 14, 15 and 16
Taking a page from last year’s overwhelming success, CCHS will be presenting two versions of Tom Griffin’s very funny and very touching play, THE BOYS NEXT DOOR. Performances for THE BOYS / GIRLS NEXT DOOR are November 13-16, in the CCHS auditorium. Curtain is at 7pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, with a Sunday matinee starting at 2pm. All tickets are general admission, and will be available at the door (no advance ticket sales) for $7; seniors and students, $5.
The play focuses on the lives of four special needs adults who live in a communal residence under the watchful eye of a sincere, but increasingly despairing, social worker. Mingled with scenes from the daily lives of these four, where "little things" sometimes become momentous (and often very funny), are moments of great poignancy. We are often reminded that we ALL want nothing more than to love, laugh and find some purpose in the brief time that we are allotted on this earth. Of equal importance, it reminds us that every society is judged by how it treats its least fortunate amongst them.
Due to the tremendous talent-pool at CCHS, Director Rich Aufiero chose to gender-reverse all of the primary roles, make a few tweaks here and there, and present a “Girls” version along with the “Boys”. Once again, two separate productions with two separate casts are being mounted simultaneously. Aufiero is absolutely certain that nothing will be lost in the translation.
The shows will alternate during production. The “Girls” version will be performed November 13 and 15, and the “Boys” version will be performed November 14 and 16. The following groups of talented student-actors will be performing:
