General News: Fire Destroys Residence

There was a fully involved house fire at the very top of Schunnemunk Mountain in Mountain Lodge Park at 14 Oakwood Terrace North that totally destroyed the residence last evening (7/30).
Smoke from the heavy fire condition the responding fireman encountered was visible from Vails Gate and Monroe.
Per Salisbury Mills 2nd Assistant Fire Chief John Paul Hess, the fire was a full 2nd alarm and bright equipment and manpower from 3 Battalions which consisted of about 14 Fire Companies.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and presently under investigation, and the residence is destroyed - a total loss.
The sole occupant escaped uninjured and was outside when firefighters first arrived.
No civilians or emergency responders were injured.
Also on scene were the Blooming Grove Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the Blooming Grove Police Department. The Ladies Auxiliary of the Mountain Lodge Fire Department assisted at the scene with hydration providing water, among other items, to the firefighters.
