General News: New NYS Adventure License
Goshen, NY – Orange County Clerk Annie Rabbitt announced today that residents can now transform their New York State driver’s license into an all-purpose sporting and recreation pass with the new NYS Adventure License. The Adventure License is for those who own lifetime hunting or fishing licenses, the Empire Passport, or a safe boating certificate. When you purchase your lifetime sporting license or complete your boating certification training, you can now choose to have your “adventure” icons added to a valid New York State license or non-driver ID. Orange County residents can choose to get their new Adventure License immediately for a fee of $12.50 for a driver’s license or $5.00 for non-driver ID, or wait for their next license renewal at no charge. Those purchasing a lifetime Empire Passport will automatically receive a new license at no cost.
“The New York State Adventure License allows Orange County driver’s license and non-driver ID holders to showcase their favorite pastimes as well as cut down on additional documentation,” said Rabbitt. “For a small fee, you can receive your brand-new Adventure License today.”
If you already have a state-issued lifetime sporting license or safe boating certificate, you may visit the online Sporting License Sales System (https://aca.dec.accela.com/dec/) and request a new driver’s license or non-driver ID with your lifetime sporting credentials. Lifetime sporting license and safe boating certificate holders may also get the updated driver’s license or non-driver ID by visiting a local DMV office and presenting their lifetime license/certificate and proof of identity. Again, there is a $12.50 new document fee ($5.00 for a non-driver ID), unless you choose to wait for your renewal.
In 2014 purchase any of the lifetime adventure licenses listed above and receive a free customized I LOVE NY adventure license plate showcasing your passion for the outdoors. There are nine designs featuring fishing, hunting, and parks. Apply online for your license plate athttp://www.dmv.ny.gov/adventure.htm, where you will find instructions for applications by phone and mail.
