Take Your Child to the Library Day Planned
CORNWALL, NY – Cornwall Public Library, along with public libraries across the nation, is celebrating Take Your Child to the Library Day on Saturday, February 7th. An open invitation is extended to everyone, especially children and their parents, to drop in the library between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to enjoy some very special opportunities and activities.
“Take Your Child to Library Day is an American Library Association initiative, with the goal of introducing families with young children to the many programs and services available to them at their public library,” said Karen LaRocca-Fels, Cornwall Public Library Director. “Families are encouraged to use public libraries to enhance their children’s literacy and educational development.”
With the day’s focus on children, the library will: (1) spotlight signing up for a library card, (2) showcase all of the varied, exciting eReference resources available on our website, and (3) offer four drop-in activities, providing fun for all ages:
10:00am-3:30pm – Create Valentine’s for you and the birds
11:00am – Family Story Circle – Fun for All Ages
1:30-3:00pm – International Day (sponsored by T.U.T.) – “Develop an International Taste”
10:00am-4:00pm – Take a Storywalk
“We are excited to be participating in Take Your Child to the Library Day again this year,” said Mrs. LaRocca-Fels. “We believe in the value of parents bringing their children to the library and look forward to seeing our local families at this great event.”
