By Jim Lennon
The Cornwall Historical Society hosted a free educational presentation given by the New York City Department of Environmental Conservation on the Catskill Aqueduct at Munger Cottage on Monday, March 25th.
The Catskill Aqueduct carries water to NYC from the Ashokan Reservoir and provides more than 40% of the water consumed by NYC each day, and all of this water travels unseen beneath parts of the Town of Cornwall and Village of Cornwall on Hudson.
The presentation, which included a slide show and Q & A session was given by Bill Richardson, Grahamsville Section Chief of Watershed Water Quality Operations, and Deputy Chief Jeffrey Helmoth PE of the NYC Bureau of Water Supply Western Operations - Engineering & Technical Support.
The well attended presentation was informative and extremely interesting.
