General News: Charges Waived for Storm Disposal
In order to provide continuing assistance to those Orange County residents who are in the midst of clean-up following Hurricane Sandy, County Executive Edward A. Diana and Deputy Commissioner of Public Works Peter Hammond are pleased to announce that Orange County transfer stations will continue to waive fees for disposal of storm debris through Friday, November 16.
Orange County Transfer Stations are located at:
- Goshen/New Hampton - 21 Training Center Lane, off of Route 17M
- Newburgh - 9 Orr Avenue
- Port Jervis - 86 Tow Path Road
Fees for disposal of storm debris will continue to be waived through Friday, November 16 to aid communities with their storm cleanup:
- There will be no charge for disposal of storm debris (scrap metal, mixed debris, and wood products) through Friday, November 16.
- The fees for disposal of regular household garbage are not waived by Orange County.
- All transfer stations will accept storm related scrap metal free of charge and only Orange County Transfer Station #1 (Goshen) will accept wood debris free of charge through Friday, November 16.
- Disaster debris may be brought to the transfer stations by municipal vehicles, contracted vendors of municipalities, and private vehicles.
- Wood products – including trees, branches, pallets, and unadulterated lumber may be brought to Wessels’ Farms located at 94 Bull Road, Otisville, NY 10963 for no charge. Please contact Mike Wessels at (845) 386-5681, http://wesselsfarms.net
