With the N.Y.M.A band performing the Christmas carols people know and love, Mayor Ed Moulton led the countdown for the lighting of the village Christmas Tree Sunday evening.
Children, many dressed in holiday garb, listened to the Christmas music, while others pursued their favorite game, running circles round the tree and gazebo. With a bright moon overhead and lovely pine roping and wreaths decorating the gazebo, the only thing missing was a blanket of new fallen snow.
The brief ceremony around the statuesque tree, said to be as big or bigger than the one in Rockfeller Center by some in the crowd,
ended when Santa rode in on the back of a fire truck. Santa headed straight to the Storm King Fire Engine Company's headquarters, when the Ladies Auxiliary had prepared hot chocolate and cookies for the crowd.
