THE CORNWALL COMMUNITY CO-OP PRESENTS
THE CORNWALL LOCAVORE CHALLENGE AUGUST 2012
First of its kind for our community
31-Day Eat Local Challenge
SIGN UP AT FARMERS MARKET
The Cornwall Community Co-op invites all its members and anyone who would like to become a locavore, to participate with us in the Locavore Challenge for the month of August. We will start dishing it up “100-mile style” for the entire month. Let’s have some fun and promote health within Cornwall by eating locally all month long. All you have to do is sign up to be a locavore, and it’s FREE for all current members!
All participants, or locavores will be dared to limit their diets to food grown, raised or caught within 100 miles of Cornwall. Sources include:
- community and start-your-own gardens.
- farmers’ markets, U-Pick farms, and roadside stands.
- local produce and locally produced foods at grocery stores.
- restaurants participating in the “challenge” with 100% locavore-approved menu options.
Why should you become a locavore with us now?
Food that is transported long distances is not as fresh. Fresh food is healthier!
Eating locally helps support local farmers and the local economy.
You will receive one free recyclable grocery tote.
Free participation in all workshops, events and tours throughout the “challenge”.
**These include an evening with Guy Jones at 2 Alices on August 1st, a movie night, a pie contest, food demonstrations and more…**
Invitation to the Finale Party at Hudson Street Cafe.
A MONTH LONG OF FUN AND HEALTH!
Registration is going on now! Each locavore will be regulating themselves based on the honor system, and will be asked to check-in regularly on the Facebook page.
