The Storm King Fire Engine Co. #2 came home with two major trophies following the Orange County Volunteer Fireman’s Association annual parade in September. The annual event was hosted by the Salisbury Mills Fire Company and next year, in 2012, the county fireman’s activities will move to Cornwall-on-Hudson.
The Storm King “Red Shirts” won Best Overall in the 2011 assembly and parade, where participants are judged on the basis of marching technique, apparatus, uniforms and the color guard. The Ladies Auxiliary from the Storm King Fire Company won First Place in the Class B competition.
Representatives of both award-winning groups gathered at the firehouse last week to show off their trophies and to talk about what’s in store for the year ahead.
Next September the volunteer firefighters will march from Main Street through the village to the waterfront in the annual parade. Before then, leaders of Storm King Engine will be installed as officers of the countywide association for the next year. Matt Clancy will serve as president and will be in charge of the planning and logistics for the parade next year
