General News: School Board Approves Tax Rate
September is right around the corner and with it, school taxes will come due. At its monthly meeting last week, the Cornwall Board of Education adopted the tax rate for property owners in the school district.
The tax rate varies among Cornwall, New Windsor and Woodbury property owners. Here are the details:
Total School and Public Library Rate per $1,000 of Assessed Value
Cornwall $ 34.0966
New Windsor $129.1652
Woodbury $ 55.3474
Taxes may be paid between September 1 and 30, with no penalty. If paid between October 1 and 31, a two-percent penalty will apply and if paid between November 1 and 2, a three-percent penalty will be added, along with two days of interest.

The New Windsor amount has to be a typo otherwise a property assessed at $200K will pay $25,800. Taxes are high but that's a little ridiculous. :)
