General News: CCHS Drama Productions Win Top Honors

The Cornwall High School Drama Club production of Guys and Dolls won top honors at the Dutchess Community College Performing Arts Program’s High School Theatre Awards announced this week. The drama club’s fall production of Play On also won five awards, including Best Scenic Design of a Play to Tony Ravinsky. Ten schools submitted musicals to the competition and six submitted plays.
Guys and Dolls won the award for Best Musical, Rich Aufiero won for Best Director of a Musical, Tony Ravinsky won for Best Musical Director, Alyssa Marino won Best Actress in a Musical for her role as Adelaide while Nick Logerfo won an honorable mention for Best Actor in a Musical for his role as Sky.
The production of Play On was awarded Honorable Mentions for Best Director to Rich Aufiero, Best Costumes of a Play to Pam Huestis, Best Featured Actor in a Play to David Ransbottom, who played Lord Dudley.
Last year’s production of Les Miserable also won the award for Best Musical. l
In announcing the awards, director Rich Aufiero commented that they speak to the talent, hard work and dedication of all of the students and adults affiliated with the program.
The honors will be handed out in an awards ceremony at Dutchess Community College on May 25.
