General News: Bungalow Burns in Early Morning Blaze
A Salisbury Mills man escaped injury after a fire broke out in his residence on Clove Road early Sunday morning.
Cornwall police sergeant Steven Dixon reports that his department responded at 2 am along with the Salisbury Mills and Washingtonville fire departments to the blaze that apparently started in the chimney of the bungalow. He said in a statement that the fire escalated into the living room and destroyed the single-family home.
Salisbury Mills fire department chief John Hesse said there were no apparent suspicious circumstances and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Red Cross made arrangements for termporary lodging for the owner.
