The 2010 Cornwall Fall Festival was held on Saturday and showed visitors who came from all over the county that there is life on Main Street and a vibrant business community here.
Some 80 vendors, many of them small business owners from Cornwall and Cornwall-on-Hudson, set up their booths early Saturday morning and even before the official 10 am start time, people were starting to arrive.
For the local shopkeepers, it was a chance to meet people with whom they have done business over the past year and to tell potential new customers just what services they provide.
Two stages, one at Willow Avenue and one at Bridge Street, provided a continuous source of entertainment, from local bands and folk singers to the high school acapella groups, dance students and gymnasts. A pie-eating contest attracted a lot of mostly young contestants who enjoyed it so much the contest was held several times.
The Cornwall Lions Club brought in a Guide Dog group that it is raising funds for this year, the soccer club sold mums and the cub scouts had a fundraising booth as well.
The Greater Cornwall Chamber of Commerce organized this year’s 37th annual Fall Festival and by the end of the day chamber president Helen Bunt said she felt sure that everyone in attendance had a great time this year.
