General News: Town Seeks Input on Comprehensive Plan Update
Are you interested in planning for the future of Cornwall?
The Cornwall Town Board is looking to appoint an informal, advisory Comprehensive Plan Committee to assist in preparation of the proposed town Comprehensive Plan update. The last comprehensive plan for the town was adopted in 2005.
Town supervisor Kevin Quigley asks interested persons to send a letter to the Supervisor’s office, 183 Main Street, Cornwall, NY 12518 by June 30, 2010.
Meanwhile, the issue of a comprehensive master plan for the village of Cornwall-on-Hudson was raised by trustee Jim Kane on Monday. Kane, who joined the board in April, wanted to know if the village could take any steps to get the ball rolling on adopting a draft plan that was presented to the board three years ago.
Mayor Joseph Gross explained that the village doesn’t have the money to spend on a professional planner to review that draft, which he said needs to be re-written.
The village board met with members of the zoning and planning boards a year ago to see if any zoning changes could be made without adopting a full master plan. To date, no zoning changes have been discussed but planning board chairman Jeffrey Small has asked to present some ideas to the board at its meeting next Monday.
