Craig Ellick and his son help remove the first tree as the storm began to wind down.

The utility truck from Ohio came to the rescue.
The crew had to remove the limbs that had pulled down the wires.
Like many families through the greater Cornwall area, the Ellicks lost their power overnight on Thursday during the big snowstorm and endured a long weekend in the dark.
During the storm, a large tree fell across their driveway and at first they couldn’t get out from their home on Roaring Brook Drive in Mountainville. They were able to get that tree removed, but large limbs still lay tangled in the wires further down the driveway, which meant no electricity. The family of five prepared basic meals on an outdoor grill and huddled around a fireplace for warmth while the temperature inside hovered around 40 degrees.
On Sunday afternoon, a utility crew from Ohio came up their drive to begin removing the limbs that had knocked out the electrical wires. Finally, the lights came back on.
Kathi Ellick, who took these photos, says she is deeply grateful to the out-of-towners who “rescued” them
