General News: Town to Appeal Decision in Assessment Case
The Cornwall town board has decided to appeal a judge’s decision that would toss out the tax assessment of a business property on Route 9W in Cornwall.
State Superior Court judge John LaCava found that the town assessor’s plan to review property valuations did not meet the guidelines established by the state. He also found that the review process was done in a selective manner. The judge ruling would reverse the 54% hike in the assessment of a building on by Leone Properties, which rose from $625,000 to $965,250. He also ordered the town to re-pay any overpayment of taxes by Leone.
The town of Cornwall has 30 days from the date of the judge’s ruling to appeal.

And who's going to pay their legal expanses???
(It should come out of their own pockets.)
