General News: Local Crafters Wanted for Fall Festival
|
Organizers would like to see even more local faces at this year's Fall Festival. |
Organizers of this year’s Fall Festival want to bring it back to its roots and are inviting local crafts people and artisans to join in the annual event.
Gail Parrinello, who runs the Cornwall Yarn Shop, says that she and other members of the Greater Cornwall Chamber of Commerce have taken back the job of organizing the Fall Festival because they want to re-invigorate the community’s role in it.
“We wanted to put community back into it cause we felt like it had gotten lost,” Parrinello said in an interview. “It is an important community day and we want to bring back that emphasis.”
Rather than recruiting vendors from out of state, she says that the Chamber is looking for local jewelry makers, antique dealers or others who want to share their products and skills with their neighbors. Local teen bands and games for young people will also be part of the daylong event to be held on September 12.
The Chamber also will benefit from the rental of vendor spaces at the Fall Festival and these funds are returned to the community in the form of a scholarship, the Christmas tree lighting and annual Art Walk.
Anyone who is interested in becoming a vendor at the Fall Festival may download an application at www.cornwallchamber.org or email [email protected]. Parrinello says the deadline for vendors has been moved to the end of August.
