General News: Art Walk, Co-op Open for Business
|
Painting by Sue Fink, one of the artists whose work will be on display in the Greater Cornwall Art Walk. |
This Saturday, get your shoes and start walking. It’s just over two miles from Cornwall Plaza to the end of Hudson Street and this Saturday you will be able to see the work of nearly forty artists in stores and businesses along the way.
Saturday marks the opening of the 2nd Annual Greater Cornwall Art Walk, an opportunity to enjoy the talents of local artists and take a look at the lovely historic buildings along the route. Each business that is hosting an artist’s work invites you inside to take a look – all artwork is for sale.
To mark the first day of the Art Walk, the group, which is sponsored by the Greater Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, is holding an outdoor reception at the Sands-Ring Historic Homestead on Main St. from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nearly a dozen artists will gather there to display their work and you will have a chance to see the artwork submitted by elementary school children hanging as well. The historic homestead will be open to the public with tours offered all day long.
When you’re down in the village of Cornwall-on-Hudson, be sure to stop in at the new Co-op Marketplace now open to the public every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. You’ll find fresh vegetables, grass-fed beef, cheeses and bread to make yourself a healthy meal after your walk through town.
