To the Editor:
I am writing my second book, Fifty Voices, about the Great Depression of the 1930's. I am interviewing fifty seniors, who as children or teens, suffered HARDSHIPS during this difficult era.
I have already interviewed thirty six men and women from different states. They have been so responsive and seemed to be waiting to tell their story.

I have always wondered how writers other than Stephen King, and others of his ilk, manage to put bread on the table at all.
In my experience, one doesn't make a great deal of money from the book-writing game, and although I have no experience with the sort of book that Ms. Jurgens is writing, I'm willing to bet a dollar or two that it won't make a fortune for her--it's the sort of subject that writers cover in order to record history from personal recollections. A very worth endevor.

Too much history is lost forever when people leave us. The reward for sharing one's story is that, if published, that story will be there not only for later generations of the storyteller's family but for all posterity to enjoy and learn from.
Everybody should write a book for their family to keep and pass along.
