General News: Food for Fines at the Library
CORNWALL, NY – On Saturday, November 1st, Cornwall Public Library will kick off their popular “Food for Fines” program, with all donations going to the Orange County Veterans Food Pantry. This particular Food for Fines is a 2014 OrangeREADS Unbroken library event, and will run through Saturday, November 22nd.
During the 3-week period of November 1-22, the Library will accept non-perishable food items in exchange for overdue fines. For each item donated, $1.00 in fines will be cleared. All food items must be non-perishable, in their original packaging, and new – well within their “use before” date. No open or damaged items will be accepted. Credit for items applies only to overdue fines. No replacement costs for lost or damaged items will be waived.
The 2014 OrangeREADS event is being sponsored by the Orange Library Association (OLA), and is featuring the acclaimed novel, Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand. Cornwall Public Library has several related programs planned, as do all OLA member libraries. For more about 2014 OrangeREADS Unbroken visit the website: www.orangereads.com.
