General News: Traffic Stop Leads to DWI Arrest
A 34-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Tuesday, March 17, 2009, on charges that he was driving while intoxicated on Route 92.
Cornwall police chief Todd Hazard said that Jason Lamont was stopped after he was observed committing a traffic infraction and police then charged him with aggravated DWI, a class E felony based on a prior conviction of DWI and because he had a blood-alcohol level over 18%. The legal limit for blood alcohol content in New York is .08%.
Lamont was arraigned before Town Justice Frances Navarra and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $1500 bail to return on March 20, 2009.
