General News: Trustee Fogarty Bids Goodbye
|
Bill Fogarty and his wife, Kathy, who came to observe her husband's last village meeting. |
Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson trustee Bill Fogarty was smiling on Monday night as the board grappled with issues of balancing the books and the interests of residents. Unlike the other trustees, he would not be bringing home documents to review and problems to ponder because Monday marked his last meeting with the board.
Fogarty noted that he served for 20 years and four months as a trustee and recalled that he would never forget his first election, when he won by only two votes. “I’m humbled by you putting me back in office ten times,” he said, addressing the few members of the public in attendance.
Earlier, village clerk Jeanne Mahoney thanked Fogarty for all his work, much of it, she said, done after hours and behind the scenes. A banker, Fogarty’s input on the budget was invaluable, though most people didn’t know about it, Mahoney said.
